Excellence In Financial Literacy Education (“EIFLE”)™ Award

The Institute for Financial Literacy will present the Excellence In Financial Literacy Education (“EIFLE”) at the 2008 Annual Conference on Financial Education, to be held in September 10-12 in Atlanta, Georgia. The EIFLE™ Award was created by the Institute to acknowledge the innovation, dedication, and the commitment of those that support financial literacy education. Categories honored include Books/Curricula of the Year, Educator of the Year, and Organization of the Year. Please use the links below for EIFLE application packets.

Book or Curriculum Questions

 

Q: What is the Excellence In Financial Literacy Education ™ Award?
A: The Excellence In Financial Literacy Education ™ (EIFLE™) Award was created to acknowledge innovation, dedication, and the commitment of those that support financial literacy education.

Q: Who created the EIFLE™ Award?
A: The Institute for Financial Literacy® created the EIFLE ™. The Institute is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt financial literacy organization.

Q: Why should I participate?
A: If selected for an award, the EIFLE ™ will identify you as a leader in the field of financial literacy education.

Q: How do I submit a nomination for the EIFLE™?
A: The EIFLE is awarded in the fall of each year at the Annual Conference on Financial Education. Please review the materials for the next upcoming Conference for EIFLE™ Award nomination forms (see above), submission fees, selection criteria, categories and instructions. You may also request a nomination packet by emailing awards@financiallit.org. All nominations must be submitted by regular mail.

Q: Is there a cut-off date that applications must be submitted by?
A: Yes. This date can be found on the current application forms, which are typically released 6 months prior to the next award.

Q: Does the nominee (or a representative thereof) need to be present at the Awards Ceremony to win?
A: No, attendance at the Awards Ceremony is encouraged but not mandatory.

Q: What recognition do EIFLE ™ Award recipients receive?
A: Recipients receive an Award, are listed on this website, and will be announced in a press release and in the Institute for Financial Literacy's® quarterly newsletter which has a circulation of over 30,000 households nationwide. Book Award recipients may also place the EIFLE Award Seal on the materials which receive the Award in recognition of their accomplishment.

Q: Can I submit a nomination for more than one category?
A: Yes. You may nominate yourself for Educator of the Year, the organization you work for as Organization of the Year, and a book or curriculum you wrote for Books/Curricula of the Year in the appropriate category or categories. You may also submit a nomination in any of the categories on behalf of another individual or organization. Each nomination will require a submission fee.

Q: Do I need to work for a financial literacy education organization to be nominated for an award?
A: No you do not.

Book or Curriculum Questions

Q: What does “Trade” mean?
A: Trade books are those that can be purchased through retail venues; physical book stores (such as Barnes and Noble), or virtual bookstores (such as Amazon). Self published works can be nominated in this category provided they are available through one of these venues.

Q: What does “Institutional” mean?
A: These are books or curricula that are only available directly from publishers, financial institutions, non profit or grassroots organizations, educational institutions, or governmental agencies.

Q: Can I nominate a book for more than one category?
A: Yes, as long as the book meets the criteria and you provide the appropriate submission fee for each category.

Q: Can I nominate an on-line program or an electronic book?
A: Neither on-line programs nor electronic books or curricula are currently eligible for nomination.

Q: Can I nominate more than one Book/Curriculum for an award?
A: Yes. You must submit one application per book or curriculum that you want to nominate, plus the appropriate submission fees for each.

Q: Who may submit a nomination for the Books/Curricula of the Year?
A: Anyone, including the author or publisher.
